Young Harris, Ga. — The two-year college is becoming a four-year institution; new buildings are LEED-ready.

Hardin Young HarrisWEBYoung Harris, Ga. — Hardin Construction Company has begun building its fourth project at Young Harris College. Built to LEED standards, the 200-bed first-year residence hall will be ready for fall 2013 occupancy.

The residence complex configured in small communities or “pods” is part of the institution’s transformation from a two-year to a four-year college.

The 62,000-square-foot hall will consist of three adjoining pavilions— two 4-story buildings and a 3-story building — offering rooms of different sizes and styles surrounding a common bath area and featuring study and social spaces.

The project’s architect of record is Lord, Aeck & Sargent, Inc.
