Champaign, Ill. — A partnership between The Opus Group and The Carlyle Group has broken ground on a 548-bed student housing community located near the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus in Champaign.

The 14-story community will offer floor plans ranging from junior studio units with full-size kitchens to four-bedroom units with bed-to-bath parity. Each bedroom will have solid doors with individual locks for each resident to secure belongings in their space. Shared amenities will include an indoor basketball court; fitness center and spa; a coffee bar; group study rooms and lounges; a club room with pool tables, ping pong tables and large screen televisions; and an outdoor amenity space with a pool, fire pits and grilling stations. Construction began in December 2017, and will be complete prior to the 2019 fall academic semester.
