Lafayette, La. — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and RISE: A Real Estate Company have broken ground on a 281,000-square-foot mixed-use development located on the university’s campus in Lafayette.

The 600-bed community will offer two-, three- and four-bedroom student apartments with full kitchens, bed-to-bath parity and in-unit washers and dryers. The property will also feature 5,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.

Shared amenities will include a clubhouse with a fitness center, business center, study rooms, game rooms and a resident lounge; a swimming pool with tanning ledges; a sand volleyball court; and grilling pavilions distributed throughout multiple courtyards. The property will also feature a pedestrian bridge to campus over an existing drainage canal.

The Lemoine Company is the project’s general contractor and Niles Bolton Associates is the project architect. The development will be financed through a partnership with the private, nonprofit Ragin’ Cajuns Facilities Inc., which will serve as the project owner of the new facilities. The community is set for completion before the fall 2019 semester.
