Virginia Beach, Va. — Armada Hoffler Properties has announced that its student housing communities were 95 percent pre-leased for the 2020-2021 academic year as of July 27. The Virginia Beach-based company’s student housing portfolio includes:  Hoffler Place in Charleston, South Carolina, which is 100 percent pre-leased; Summit Place in Charleston, South Carolina, which was 97 percent pre-leased; and Johns Hopkins Village in Baltimore, Maryland, which was 91 percent pre-leased.

Brockport, N.Y. — Campus Advantage has been awarded management of The Brock, a 401-bed student housing community serving students attending The College at Brockport, State University of New York. Built in 2009, the garden-style community offers two-, three- and four-bedroom units. Shared amenities include a newly renovated clubhouse, game room, study spaces, a fitness center, laundry facilities and a shuttle service to campus. Catalyst, an Austin, Texas-based agency specializing in marketing for student and multifamily housing, will partner with Campus Advantage to manage marketing efforts for the community.

Auburn, Ala. — The Union at Auburn recently launched a ‘Worry-Free Renting’ program for students looking to lease an apartment for the upcoming academic year. In this program, students who sign a lease for fall 2020 will not have to pay rent until in-person classes begin or they decide to move into the community. The property is also promising that students will be allowed to cancel their lease if they are accepted into on-campus housing for the upcoming year before April 30, 2020. Reno, Nev. — The University of Nevada, Reno has leased 836 beds of off-campus student housing for the 2020-2021 academic year. The university has leased 330 beds at Uncommon Reno, owned by CA Student Living; and 506 beds at Canyon Flats, owned by Canyon Flats III LLC and managed by Cardinal Group.  The university experienced an explosion in July of last year, requiring two residence halls to be taken offline. New York City — Jetty, a financial services company with a focus on removing financial barriers to renting, has launched Student Housing Express, a platform designed to speed up and simplify the leasing process at student housing properties. The new platform enables student housing properties to use the New York City-based company’s Jetty Lease Guaranty to instantly approve qualifying students who aren’t able to get a traditional guarantor.
