North Andover, Mass. — A public-private partnership between Greystar Real Estate Partners and Merrimack College has broken ground on a residence hall development on the university’s campus in North Andover. Upon completion in fall 2026, the community will offer 540 beds across two four-story buildings. The first building will span 79,600 square feet and offer 351 “traditional style” beds with academic space and gathering areas on the first floor. Boston — Skanska has partnered with Simmons University to develop a $311 million living-learning center on the institution’s Boston campus. Upon completion, the development will offer 1,000 beds of student housing; meeting and social spaces; office support space; a 500-seat dining facility; and a fitness facility including a swimming pool, gymnasium, rowing tanks and a weight room. Medford, Mass. — Tufts University has announced plans for a residence hall development on its campus in Medford, which will target junior and senior undergraduate students. The development site is located on Boston Avenue across from the new Medford/Tufts Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) station. The community will offer apartment-style units, ground floor retail space and an outdoor plaza that will be open to the public. Cambridge, Mass. — The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has submitted plans for a 690-bed residence hall development located at 269-301 Vassar St. on the university’s campus in Cambridge, according to reports by development tracking platform Bldup.
