Orangeburg, S.C. — Construction may begin this summer for a male and a female residence hall.

Orangeburg, S.C. — The Times and Democrat is reporting that Claflin University is seeking a zoning change to create a student residential complex consisting of two residence halls near three existing student housing facilities. The university owns the parcel to be re-zoned as well as the property around it. If the change is approved, construction could begin this summer with completion in fall 2014. Claflin Vice President for Administration Drexel Ball told the newspaper that this project could help Claflin achieve its goal of housing 1,500 students on-campus.
