Core Spaces Closes Out Second Quarter with Groundbreakings and Acquisitions

Chicago — Core Spaces has closed out the second quarter of 2021 with groundbreakings and acquisitions in several markets, including Atlanta, Los Angeles and State College, Pennsylvania. 

Groundbreakings

Core Spaces began construction on Hub Atlanta earlier this year, which will provide approximately 800 beds near the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta’s midtown neighborhood. The Chicago-based company has also broken ground on a 577-bed community in Los Angeles. Both projects are scheduled for completion in fall 2023. Groundbreakings are also set for later this year in markets including College Park, Maryland; Boulder, Colorado; and State College, Pennsylvania. 

Acquisitions

Since announcing its $1 billion student housing acquisition fund earlier this year, Core has acquired seven new properties including Stanhope Student Apartments near North Carolina State University in Raleigh; Plato’s Court at Knight’s Landing near Indiana University in Bloomington; Park Hill Apartments near Penn State University in State College; Parkside at College Park near the University of Maryland campus; and Whistlebury, a 626-bed portfolio of three communities near the University of Georgia campus in Athens. The firm also acquired full ownership of its oLiv Tempe and Hub West Lafayette communities in Arizona and Indiana.
