Dallas — Inland American Communities (IAC) has rebranded itself to become University House Communities (UHC).
UHC will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Inland American REIT, a non-traded national REIT that manages a portfolio of commercial real estate assets in multifamily and student housing.
According to Travis Roberts, president of UHC, “We felt it was a good time to rebrand the company to show the independence from the parent company. We’re taking this as an opportunity to create more of our own identity.”
University House Communities will continue to expand its portfolio through tactical acquisitions and the development of new, best-in-class properties.
Roberts says that 95 percent of its properties are already branded University House.
“For anyone who knows us, the name change should feel pretty seamless,” he says. “We feel that we built up enough brand recognition, and it made sense to carry that over into the corporate side.”
Currently, UHC has five new student housing properties under construction in Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Tempe, Arizona; and continues to identify new development and acquisition opportunities across the country.
