Greenville, N.C. — Greenville-based Taft Development Group, in partnership with Ward Holdings and Waterford Contracting DBA Taft Construction Group, has broken ground on The Proximity at 10th, a 609-bed student housing project located adjacent to the heart of the East Carolina University (ECU) main campus in Greenville.

Located across from the $122 million state-of-the-art ECU Student Center, Proximity at 10th will offer fully furnished studio, two-, three- and four-bedroom units on a four-acre site. The community is scheduled for completion in fall 2019.

Project features include four-stories on partial podium construction, a 521-space parking garage, 12,000 square feet of retail and 40 surface parking spaces. Amenities will include a 9,000-square-foot clubhouse, fitness center, yoga studio, game and multi-purpose room, co-working innovation area, vending area, student gallery, over 20 study rooms and lounges and a state-of-the-art security system.

Outdoor amenities will include a courtyard with a fire pit, grills, a water feature, covered cabana lounge, hammock garden and a resort-style swimming pool with a sun shelf. Units offer bed-to-bath parity; fully-equipped, contemporary furnishings; top-of-the-line finishes; and washers and dryers.

Taft Development Group’s first ECU student housing project, The Boundary @ West End, opened with 100 percent occupancy in fall 2015. The property was the first amenity-rich, walk-to-campus housing of its kind in Greenville, according to the development group. The property has remained 100 percent occupied.
