ACC’s Northeastern University Project Aims to be First LEED Platinum Student Housing in Boston

Boston — A public-private partnership between American Campus Communities (ACC) and Northeastern University resulted in the opening of LightView in September of this year. The 20-story development is targeting Platinum certification from The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the highest level of its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Suffolk University Buys 114-Room Ames Boston Hotel

Boston — Suffolk University has purchased the 114-room Ames Boston Hotel, located in Financial District of the city, for $63 million. The historic property, located at 1 Court St., was originally built in 1893 and redeveloped in 2009. The university will rebrand the building as a student housing facility called the One Court Street Residence Hall, which will ultimately house approximately 280 students. P3 Opens 825-Bed Residence Hall at Northeastern University

Boston — A public-private partnership between American Campus Communities (ACC) and Northeastern University has opened LightView, an 825-bed residence hall located adjacent to the southeastern border of the university’s campus in Boston. The 20-story development offers four-bedroom units with shared or private accommodations. Community amenities include social and recreational lounges, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a 24-hour academic success center and 2,000 square feet of retail. Construction Underway on 150-Unit Community Near the University of Massachusetts Amherst

Sunderland, Mass. — Construction is underway on North 116 Flats, a 150-unit multifamily community located near the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Sunderland. Simmons University Files Plans for Campus Upgrades, 1,100-Bed Residence Hall

Boston — Simmons University has filed a 10-year plan with the city of Boston that outlines of series of campus upgrades including the development of a new 21-story, 1,100-bed residence hall on Avenue Louis Pasteur, according to reports by The Boston Globe. The report notes that the school has been negotiating for at least a year with developers on a multi-phase plan that would include leasing its residential campus and funneling proceeds into the development of the new residential tower.
